About Roxy

Mark and Barbara met as news reporters covering New York City in the 1980s. They married, raised two great kids and soon the family was being schooled about life’s vital lessons by a little white dog named Roxy. There was a lot to learn about appreciation, sharing, sibling rivalry, different ways we mourn a loved one and so much more. Roxy, who died at age 18 in 2023, was the inspiration for the book character White Lightning the dog, who explores life’s sometimes confusing challenges through adventures with her friend Bob Bob the cat. White Lightning often stumbles but young readers will see how Bob Bob helps her get back up and onto a clearer path that is open to all who choose it.
